Yokohama plants 4,735 trees
CLARK FREEPORT – The sole tire manufacturing company in the Philippines staged its 8th “Yokohama Forever Forest” tree planting event November 7, 2015 on its premises in a land area of 1, 578m2. The project drew more than 500 attendees that planted 4, 735 seedlings of native tree species.
Today, everyone will make a great contribution to the environment, said Mr. Yasuhiro Kurokawa, Yokohama Tire Philippines, Inc. (YTPI) President and CEO on his welcome remarks. “This is Yokohama's environmental culture; when we care for the environment, we care for people. That’s why, your acceptance to our invitation today is very important”, he added.
As part of the company’s CSR, YTPI is doing its part towards proactive environmental preservation. The company values the importance of planting trees native to the land and believes that a greenery native to the area is lasting and more beneficial. Since its first tree-planting in August 2008, the total number of Toog, Molave, Narra, Dita and Alagaw trees planted by YTPI is now 36,849.
This event, in line with the Grand Design 100, the Yokohama Rubber Corporation’s (YRC) management plan towards its 100th anniversary, will bring thousands of new trees to the existing indigenous forest at YTPI grounds. YRC aspires to develop forests around all of its major plants through the principles of Yokohama Forever Forest by 2017 which will mark its100th anniversary.
Participants were YTPI and Yokohama Tire Sales Philippines, Inc. (YTSPI) employees and their families, Officers from Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 3, local government units, Managers and other members of Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Management Committee, Directors from Clark Investors and Locator Association (CILA) and Clark Human Resource Council (CHRC), representatives from Holy Rosary Parish Church, delegates from Tire Dealer Motech, and stakeholders.Press Release
